You may not think about your sugar intake when you are out having a glass of your favorite vino. Navigating a wine list when you are consciously trying to consume sugar in moderation could be tricky. We can all agree that sugar makes everything taste better. Sugar is necessary for our bodies and is also needed for making wine. But, what is it exactly? Sugar is a simple carbohydrate that is derived from plants; each gram of sugar provides the body with 4 calories. It occurs naturally in foods such as milk, other dairy products, fruit, fruit juices and vegetables.
